Is your organization truly leveraging employee involvement?
Adopting an evidence-based approach, this presentation will examine how
engaging in real collaboration with employees and/or their representatives can
result in increased employee satisfaction and productivity and improve
organizational performance. It will also highlight common barriers that may be
impeding your organization from realizing this potential. The presentation will
conclude with a toolkit applicable to both unionized and non-unionized settings
that that can enhance HR practitioners' effectiveness in achieving win-win
solutions in collaborative negotiations.
Presenter:
Dionne Pohler, PhD, CHRP, Department of Human Resource
Management and Organizational Behaviour, Edwards School of Business, University
of Saskatchewan
Dionne Pohler is an Assistant Professor of Human Resources and Organizational Behaviour at the Edwards School of Business and is a member of the SAHRP's Board of Directors. Dionne’s research and publications center around the impact of unions and high involvement HR systems on individual and organizational outcomes as well as the role and professionalization of the HR occupation in Canada. She holds a national research grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, and last year won an international award for her research on the union-management relationship from the Labor and Employment Relations Association in the United States. She currently teaches strategic human resource management and skills surrounding project management, performance management, negotiations and organizational change in the BCOMM, MBA, and executive education programs. She recently received a University of Saskatchewan teaching excellence award for the new strategic HR capstone course she created for the the BCOMM HR major.
