Canada and the United Kingdom have enjoyed a long and prosperous relationship. With the second Joint Declaration signed in 2011, foreign relations have reinvigorated a strategic partnership on global issues between our nations.
Join us for an intimate round table of students and faculty on topics ranging across global security, economics, energy, and culture. Alistair Burt MP, will present briefly on his role at the Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Office, the United Kingdom's renewed partnership with Canada, and promote a round table discussion with the students in attendance. This event marks the first UK parliamentary minister visit in Saskatchewan's history.
As Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Alistair Burt MP is responsible for topics pertaining to:
- Afghanistan and South Asia;
- Counter terrorism;
- Counter proliferation;
- North America;
- Middle East and North Africa;
- FCO finance; and
- Human resources and diversity

Non-Attendance to Events: The Hanlon Centre often provides its events free of charge, while incurring associated operating costs and expenses, to ensure students have access to international business education and experiential learning opportunities. In the case of an event offered by a “third party” government/corporate partner, the Hanlon Centre might purchase event tickets to give away as complimentary to interested students. Sometimes seating can be limited, and a student wait list can result. If you are unable to attend this event, you MUST give ample notice to the Hanlon Centre so the opportunity may be presented to another student. Where the Hanlon Centre purchased and provided complimentary tickets, you might be charged the full price of the ticket as a “no-show” or failure to provide ample cancellation notice. Seat transfer to an unregistered guest without authorization from the Hanlon Centre is not allowed.
