Biography

With a background in cultural theory, media studies, and communications, I develop an interdisciplinary understanding of business and business communications in both individual contexts and organizational settings. In teaching and learning from my own students, I aim to trouble assumptions about culture, communication, discourse, and practice of business itself. Beyond the important but sometimes narrow confines of professional responsibilities and core competencies, I aim to foster multiple intelligences about work, political economy, and social relations. As such, this means rethinking the relationship between business and society through open and deliberate engagement with the assumptions, values, norms, and beliefs specific to "doing business"  in the context of neoliberal capitalist economics.

Much of my recent academic activity aims at connecting military, social, and economic practices in relation to theories of biopoliitics and liberal war; specifically, I'm interested in the changing relationship between ways of life, ways of rule, and ways of war - and their gradual indistinction.

Teaching Areas: Transactional Communications; Communications & Technological Literacies; Work Cultures & Power Relations; Cultural Theory.

Coach: JDC West Not-For-Profit Team
