Womentorship Panel on Male Mentorship

Release Date : February 22, 2012

The first Betty-Ann Heggie Womentorship Development Seminar of 2012 was held last Thursday, February 16th at the Willows Golf and Country Club. The topic of the morning session was Finding & Working with a Male Mentor, and program founder Betty-Ann Heggie moderated a panel discussion of four local executives. Bruce Walls, VP of Human Resources and Industrial Relations at AREVA; Greg Yuel, CEO of PIC Investment Group; Dale Lemke, President and CEO of Display Systems International; and David Kelly, VP of Operations of the Cameo Alliance spoke on their experiences as mentors and answered questions about the mentoring process.

“It’s important that women have both female and male mentors in their lives,” says Womentorship Co-ordinator Maryann Ross. “Our four invited panelists – each of whom has a reputation for mentoring women – were mentors for our audience, sharing with us their perspective on mentorship, presence, belonging, and resilience.”

The panel also discussed networking, asking for a raise, risk-taking, work-life balance and other topics that arose in the Question and Answer session.
