The Edwards School of Business is pleased to announce that one of our study abroad students recently won a business competition, while studying abroad at Finnmark University College in Alta, Norway. Kyle Malach, a fourth year Finance student, competed against student teams from four other universities in Russia, Finland and Norway. There was seven teams in total and they were competing to see who could come up with the best ideas for a local business/extreme bike race - offroadfinnmark (www.offroadfinnmark.com). The week of competition involved lectures by local entrepreneurs during the day and fun activities in the evening, which provided an opportunity to network and meet new people. They developed their ideas for four days before presenting them to the company's board of directors and a live audience on Friday morning. Later that evening at the awards banquet, it was announced that Kyle had won first place and received 5000 Kroners (~$900 CDN) in cash for his idea! It was a great concept for a competition and Kyle feels that he learned a lot as a result of participating. "The University of Saskatchewan has really helped me out in a business sense and I'm proud to say I'm part of the Edwards School of Business."
