Hi everyone! Welcome to the Human Resources Student Society website.
The Human Resources Student Society (HRSS) is an exciting club in Edwards School of Business which provides our students with valuable networking opportunities, and fun social events in an effort to bridge the gap between the academic and professional worlds of Human Resources. Meanwhile we provide tons of opportunities for students who are interested in HR to meet and interact with each other, as well as interact with the real business world.
Graduates with an HR major have been successful in a wide range of management positions, not just HR specialist positions, and in all types of organizations, not just businesses. This is because they've learned the nuts-and-bolts of managing people. Dealing with people issues such as leadership, motivation, and communication is at the core of all management jobs. Also, in our legally-oriented society, every manager needs to be knowledgeable about the laws that affect the employer-employee relationship, and this information is also covered in the HR major. For those students wishing to be HR specialists, our program will prepare you very well for the Canadian Human Resource Professional (CHRP) qualifying exam, as witnessed by the success in the exam of some of our recent graduates.
The Human Resources (HR) major combines three separate, yet related areas: Human Resources (HR), Organizational Behavior, and Employment Relations. Students who choose HR as their major will take courses in all three of these areas.
