Academic Rumour of the Week
If I get sick before a final exam, should I just take it anyway?
It depends
Edwards students have the option to apply for a deferred exam within 3 days of the missed exam if they are too ill to take it during the scheduled period. However, keep in mind that all Term 2 deferred exams are held in mid-June. So, even if you're not feeling your best, consider whether it's worth deferring until June. For more details on deferred exams, visit https://students.usask.ca/academics/exams.php#Deferredandsupplemental
------------
We often hear rumours, myths and legends when students come in for academic advising. The Academic Rumour of the Week has been created to address these rumours – are they true or not? If you've heard a rumour and want to know if it's true (academic-related), send it to undergrad@edwards.usask.ca. Each week we will address a different rumour and include it in this newsletter.

NEW Course: COMM 398 Sustainability Reporting

Now available for program planning: COMM 398.3 Sustainability Reporting
Open to all majors and offered for the first time in Winter Term, 2026, this new course provides an in-depth examination of sustainability accounting, reporting, and ESG-related disclosure. Topics will cover foundational perspectives on sustainability reporting, and the relevant sustainability reporting standard setters, standards, and frameworks. The course will also highlight the role of sustainability reporting in relation to business processes, certifications (e.g. BCorp) and sustainable finance (e.g. green bonds). The prerequisite is one of either COMM 321 or 325. The focus of the course is sustainability reporting, but sustainability touches all aspects of business, so the course is open to both accounting and non-accounting majors.
