Learn how to create the type of digital content that drives engagement, interest, and conversions for your organization. 

Success in the digital and social world today is all driven by CONTENT. Being able to create, edit and deploy content that appeals to your target audience is increasingly becoming a key part of many individuals within the organization. What was once the domain of graphic designers has now transcended the organizational structure. Today, being able to create, edit and deploy powerful content in real-time is becoming easier with user-friendly tools.

The Digital and Social Media: Digital Content Creator course focuses on generating a wide variety of content with an emphasis on video (recorded, live and 360), but also includes content surrounding images, audio, augmented and virtual reality as well as chatbots. 

Course Structure 

This program is delivered through recorded modules and live sessions.  Approximately half will be delivered through recorded modules and half delivered through live sessions. Participants can start the recorded content at any time but MUST be completed all of the recorded content before being invited and attending the live sessions. 

Once you have completed the recorded modules, you will be invited to the live sessions.   After each session, you will have a bit of ‘homework/application’ where you implement your learnings as you go. You MUST complete the recorded content before being invited to the live sessions and both the recorded content and live sessions are mandatory for your Certificate of Completion. 

  • Recorded Modules & Live Sessions
    Optimizing your visual images for usage across a variety of platforms, each with their own specific and changing dimensions can be time-consuming and challenging without the correct tools and processes. This module will provide you with techniques and recommendations that will streamline your processes allowing you to obtain better images in less time. Audio is an effective means of providing information, either through a stand-alone medium such as a podcast or as one of the most important elements of a video presentation. This module will cover the various methods of capturing audio, optimizing it, and integrating it with your video elements effectively.
    The creation and deployment of good video is one of the most important content creation skills of a digital marketing. Approximately 70-80% of the content you deploy on your social media platforms should be video-based to obtain maximum reach and engagement from your audiences.  This module addresses the fundamentals tools and techniques for the creation and deployment of video across multiple platforms with emphasis on length, lighting, format, and tools so that you can optimize your video deployment with the tools and resources that you have available.
    Augmented Reality (AR) is an rapidly growing form of content that allows you to incorporate online visual elements into the real world that your audiences are experiencing. AR is available for both organic content as well as your digital advertising. Consumers are becoming more aware AR and are expecting many types of organizations to be utilizing the features to enhance their experience. This module immerses you into the tools to create your own AR content and allows you to enhance your traditional marketing efforts in an engaging manner. 360-degree video allows you to create immersive video content that can either be deployed on almost all social media platforms. Users can either consume the 360-video content through the app on their mobile device, on their desktop computer, or for the most immersive experience, through a Virtual Reality (VR) headset. This module will allow you to work with a variety of camera systems, social media platforms, and VR headsets to experience your work at its fullest as well as introducing you to the software and techniques for capturing and. editing your 360-degree videos including 360 spacial audio.

    There are a wide variety of tools that can be used for your digital content creation at a variety of capabilities and price points. This module will provide an ongoing platform for reviewing new tools that may help you create your content most effectively, addressing the pros and cons of each as well as what tools would work best in different situations.

    Video content is the most important content that you are creating and deploying across your digital media channels, so having an effective process to plan and shoot video for rapid video deployment is a necessity. This module will provide guidance on an effective process to create and shoot video that your viewers will engage with including setup, planning, lighting, camera selection, format and length choices as well as rapid deployment strategies.
    Every digital media channel will have different video forms (length and dimensions) that must be used to optimize your deployment. This module will immerse you into the wide variety of software and programs available to you as a content creator to edit your videos and prepare them for deployment. You through a step-by-step post-production process for optimized content deployment along with best practices.
    Simply posting on social media is no longer enough to engage your users, it all about going live. Every major social media channel allows for live video deployment and live video always received the highest reach and engagement. This module will demonstrate the importance of “live” and you will be taken through each platform for live videos and shown you how to optimize your content for your users when you do not have post-production to make corrections.

Instructor Profile

LyleLyle Wetsch, MBA, MSc. Mgmt

Lyle is the designer of the Digital and Social Media Program and the facilitator of all of the program's components.  He is currently an Associate Professor of Marketing at Memorial University, NFLD and Chair in Teaching and Learning for the Faculty of Business Administration with over 200 presentations and publications in the past 16 years. 

He has assisted businesses with the development, design, and implementation of their digital and social media strategic and tactical plans with his company, Digital Marketing Consultants. His work has received several international accolades.

Lyle's professional credentials include being a Google Partner, multiple Google certifications, Microsoft, Twitter, Hootsuite and Hubspot marketing and advertising certificates.

Cancellation

University of Saskatchewan's liability is limited to reimbursement of paid tuition fees.

Cancellations received at least ten (10) business days in advance of the course commencement date will receive a full refund. Cancellations received less than ten (10) business days prior to the course commencement date will be subject to a $200 administration fee. Cancellations received less than three (3) business days prior to the course commencement date will be subject to full course tuition cost.

Non-attendance will incur full course tuition cost.

Program Transfers

One course transfer will be permitted without penalty if the cancellation request is received more than ten (10) business days prior to the course start date. Program transfers within ten (10) business days of the course start date will be subject to a $200 administration fee.

Alternate program transfers may be approved dependent on course availability. Transfer requests must be scheduled within six (6) months of the initial purchase.

Applicants will be responsible for any price difference in program fees at the time of the request. Each subsequent transfer request will be subject to $200 administration fee.
