Coach Approach to Leadership


Program Overview

Participants will discover coaching as a powerful leadership tool – and walk away with the skills to apply the coach approach in the workplace immediately.  The program provides conversation frameworks for communicating with others designed to engage, empower, and inspire forward action with people at all levels in the ever-increasing complex and changing world.

The program is highly interactive and participants apply their new knowledge in action, developing and enhancing their coaching, communication, and feedback skills.  The program incorporates current research and best practices in neuroscience, emotional intelligence, positive psychology and appreciative inquiry.  The content methodology is blended with practical and insightful exercises, models, and processes designed to fast-track learning and engagement. 

The program incorporates powerful video examples to enhance the learning to the next level, creating an experience and teaching point for participants. The video scenarios demonstrate leaders and staff, as they work through the challenges of a major workplace change and restructuring. Each scenario demonstrates significant change and transition within the workplace.

Instructor Profile


Shana Ring, MA, PPC, CPHR

President of Destination Leadership and founder of EXPEDITION Coaching - a leadership program focused on enhancing coaching, communication and change skills of leaders at all levels in today's workplace. Shauna specializes in the area of developing coaching cultures, leadership and team development, succession planning and change. She has been working with individuals, teams and organizations in her own business since 2007. Prior to this she spent over 13 years at SaskPower successfully designing and leading leadership development initiatives.

Shauna completed a Master's of Arts Degree in Leadership and the Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University. She is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and offers Certified Coach training, Certified Facilitator training and Coaching Skills training. She has her Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Regina and is a Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR).

University of Saskatchewan's liability is limited to reimbursement of paid tuition fees.

Cancellations received at least ten (10) business days in advance of the program commencement date will receive a full refund. Cancellations received less than ten (10) business days prior to the program commencement date will be subject to a $500 administration fee. Cancellations received less than three (3) business days prior to the program commencement date will be subject to full program tuition cost.

Non-attendance will incur full program tuition cost.

Program Transfers

One program transfer will be permitted without penalty if the cancellation request is received more than ten (10) business days prior to the program start date. Program transfers within ten (10) business days of the program start date will be subject to a $300 administration fee.

Alternate program transfers may be approved dependent on program availability. Transfer requests must be scheduled within six (6) months of the initial purchase.

Applicants will be responsible for any price difference in program fees at the time of the request. Each subsequent transfer request will be subject to $300 administration fee.
