The program fosters self-reflection while exploring essential leadership strategies and approaches to effectively engage, support, collaborate with, and influence leaders and stakeholders. Participants will apply these concepts through case studies and real-world scenarios, cultivating a deeper understanding of their leadership roles and developing their personal leadership perspective.

    • Understand Your Style: Use DiSC to gain greater insight into working styles, how motivators and stressors may influence engagement with others, and adapt more individualized approaches in various HR relevant scenarios such as collaborating with and influencing leaders. 
    • Apply Key Leadership Tools: Explore various concepts, models, and tools, including emotional intelligence, psychological safety, leadership styles, motivation, and the elements of high performing teams, and how they can be used by HR both proactively, and to diagnose issues to support leaders, teams, and organizations. 
    • Explore Unconscious Bias: Review types of unconscious bias, identify ways in which biases may influence how people engage with others and influence decisions made in organizations, and how to use this knowledge to better support leaders and teams in working environments. 
    • Enhance Communication: Explore elements of effective communications and strategies for taking a coaching approach to working with leaders and others while incorporating an HR perspective. 
    • Focus on Well-being: Discuss the potential personal impacts of work on HR professionals and identify strategies to improve time management, productivity, and maintaining a greater focus on personal wellness. 
    • Real-World Application: Practice applying program concepts and connect to day-to-day work through case studies and group discussions.

In-person delivery occurs at Edwards Executive Education, #600 - 340 3rd Avenue North, Saskatoon, with all learning materials provided digitally on Canvas. In-person delivery includes instructor facilitation, small group exercises, large group discussions, interactive learning, networking and ample breaks and opportunities for questions and discussions. Participants will be required to bring a laptop/digital device to access all learning materials during the program. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments will be provided.

 Rick Reid

Rick Reid, PME, BComm, CPHR 

Rick Reid is a human resources professional with over twenty years of experience in a variety of strategic advisory and leadership positions in both public and private sector organizations. The Corporate Learning Consultant and a program facilitator and coach with Executive Education at the Edwards School of Business, Rick has a Bachelor of Commerce from Edwards, a Professional Master of Education from Queen’s University, holds a CPHR designation, and is a Certified Leadership Coach. Rick has worked in a number of industries including education, health care, local government and energy services, and in his work with Executive Education, engages with participants and organizations across all industries. His career has primarily focused in the areas of employee and labour relations, and employee learning and development. He has extensive experience in conducting workplace investigations, conflict engagement, leadership development, performance management, and leading organizational HR change initiatives.
