13th Annual Women of Influence Breakfast Presentation

The 13th annual Women of Influence Breakfast Presentation was held Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Prairieland Park. 

Chief Kimberly Jonathan, First Vice-Chief at the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations spoke on “Celebrating and Embracing Diversity”, particularly her journey to her current leadership role. She reminded the audience to remember the cloth you are cut from and find common ground.

Stefanie Lawton, Skip for Saskatchewan Women’s Curling Team spoke about the “Balancing Act”. She discussed successes and challenges faced while balancing family, work and chasing her Olympic dream.  She discovered that happiness is achieved by balancing priorities.

Daphne Taras, Dean at Edwards School of Business shared her story on “Navigating through Chaos”. She captivated the audience with her journey that went from dreams of being a ballerina to academia. She shared her passion for life-long education and reminded the audience that while you are on your journey it is okay to pivot.

The Women of Influence Award, a scholarship intended for business students (male or female) who are making progress towards degree completion, who are single-parents of dependent children, and who are contributing to the support of their family, was awarded to Marsha Janvier, a fourth year Management major, and Nancy Zimmerman, a 4th year Human Resources major.
