As the program title indicates, participants will learn the fundamentals of project management. Participants will be able to use these concepts the very next day on their projects, giving an edge over competition.

The Fundamentals of Project Management is a hands-on, workshop-based, interactive program. It includes small group exercises, large group discussions, and instructor facilitation. Participants will be able to practice what they learn on a case study project.

This program utilizes many of the templates found in IPDI Project Management Template Library. After completion, participants will have free access to the Templates to use on their own projects.

    • Understand the two main approaches to projects: Predictive and Agile as well as the Hybrid approach
    • Develop a Scope Statement for the project to depict what is in scope and what is not
    • Create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) / Sprint backlog to establish effective resource and duration estimates
    • Develop duration estimates using various techniques
    • Understand the application of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling
    • Understand the usage of a Task Board / Kanban on certain types of projects
    • Establish effective adjustments, including risk responses, to the preliminary schedule
    • Accurately update the schedule based on work performance
    • Evaluate the schedule and budget variances and how to resolve them

Doug Boebinger, MS, PMP, AHPP, PMTA-CTP

Doug Boebinger is the founder and Chief Project Management Consultant and Trainer for Integrated Process Developers, Inc. (IPDI).  He holds over 35 years profit and loss experience in project management and process re-engineering. Doug obtained his Project Management Professional (PMP ®) from the Project Management Institute (PMI ®) in 1994 and has taught PMP Prep program to thousands of people in numerous organizations across the world since then. As the lead project management consultant to Ford Motor Company Powertrain Global Division, Doug created the MAPD® Strategy which is a revolutionary new project/process planning and execution strategy specifically designed for multi-team environments.

Doug has spent his career assisting companies in various industries as a project manager and as a consultant and trainer to implement project management and improve their organization’s processes.  A current or former adjunct faculty member at various universities across the United States and Canada, Doug was the Project Management Department Chair and developer of the Bachelor of Science Project Management degree curriculum at  Cleary University.

He developed over 40 programs on project management, leadership and communications topics that have been taught to thousands of people from entry-level to C level in numerous organizations, companies, and governments around the world.
