Biography
Natalie Bolen is an Assistant Professor at the Edwards School of Business. Her research explores how consumers spend their time, money, and attention, with a particular focus on experiential consumption and the social relationships that shape meaningful experiences. Dr. Bolen studies questions such as who we choose to share experiences with, how people make decisions together, and how those choices influence enjoyment, well-being, and long-term outcomes.
Her work spans a variety of contexts, including healthcare, relationships, and other non-traditional marketplaces. Broadly, she seeks to understand how organizations can better design experiences and communicate with consumers in ways that improve both individual and societal outcomes.
Dr. Bolen's research has been presented at leading international conferences, including the Association for Consumer Research and the Marketing Science Conference, and has been supported by organizations such as the Saskatchewan Centre for Patient-Oriented Research (SCPOR). She has received recognition for both research and teaching, including Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarships and a Graduate Teaching Award from the University of Alberta. Beyond research, she is deeply committed to service, contributing to academic governance, policy initiatives, and student and professional communities.
Driven by curiosity, Natalie seeks to produce research that makes everyday experiences a little more thoughtful, a little more meaningful, and ultimately a little better.
