Great time to be an entrepreneur

The 11th Annual Gordon and Maureen Haddock Entrepreneurial Speaker Series took place at the Edwards School of Business on Monday, March 12th. This year’s event featured John Williams, President of North Prairie Developments and President & CEO of Canwest Commercial and Land Corp.

North Prairie Developments specializes in the planning and construction of single and multi-family housing. Over the last 30 years, North Prairie has built over 3,000 dwellings and continues to build on their strong reputation in the province, earning numerous awards and recognitions over the years. At the same time, sister company Canwest Commercial and Land Corp have also become leaders in retail and office space construction and land acquisitions.

Today, both of the Williams’ family owned and operated companies continue to prosper in communities across Saskatchewan and are well known as one of the largest development companies in the province.

During the Haddock Speaker Series, John shared his perspective on the ever-changing economic climate and why now is a great time to be a part of the entrepreneurial world. Students, faculty and community members gathered to hear this homegrown entrepreneur share his evolving story and wisdom on founding, growing and succeeding in our community.

“North Prairie and John Williams are 25-year members of the Saskatoon & Region Home Builders’ Association, demonstrating professionalism and raising the bar for the residential construction industry here in Saskatoon,” said Chris Guérette, CEO, Saskatoon & Region Home Builders’ Association. “We think it’s great that this speaker series gives young people who are training and aspiring to be entrepreneurs the chance to hear stories like John’s and to see evidence of the success that can come with the kind of hard work and integrity that John has displayed throughout his career.”

Thank you to Gordon and Maureen Haddock for making this event possible and to John Williams for sharing his passion for entrepreneurship with Edwards School of Business.
