9 Edwards Students receive over $20,000 in 2025 Co-operative Education Program Scholarships

The Edwards Co-operative Education Program offers business students an 8–12-month work placement in their chosen field, allowing them to gain practical and industry-relevant experience to advance their professional development.

Following 8 months of co-op placements, the Edwards School of Business hosts its annual Co-op Open House. During this event, new and returning co-op students can network with propspective employers and one another. This year, there were 169 incoming undergraduate and MBA students looking to find placements in January. In addition, there were 126 returning students who also attended the event after completing their 8-month work placement.

Returning co-op students were also recognized and celebrated through the presentation of scholarship awards. There were 5 award categories including 2 student nominated and 3 employer nominated. A total of 9 awards were presented, with a combined value of $20,000.

The following two awards are student nominated.

Federated Co-operatives Limited Student Experience Award: given to two students with a monetary value of $2,500 each, this award recognizes students who embraced the overall co-operative education experience. The 2025 award recipients are:

  • Kersey Reich: majoring in Finance and worked as a Business Development Student for Federated Co-operatives Limited in Saskatoon, SK.
  • Madison Waskowic: majoring in Marketing and worked as a Marketing Intern for International Rural Exchange Canada in Alameda, SK and Leipzig, Germany.

Leo Bruce Thordarson Business Co-operative Award: given to a student with a monetary value of $2,500, this award is presented to a continuing undergraduate student in the Co-operative Education Program at the Edwards School of Business. The 2025 award recipient is:

  • Ruth Barut-Misiurski: majoring in Management and worked as a HR Co-op Student at City of Saskatoon in Saskatoon, SK.

The following three awards are employer nominated.

Edwards Co-operative Education Program Student Achievement Award: given to four students with a monetary value of $2,000 each, this award recognizes students who have made outstanding contributions in their co-operative education work placement. The 2025 award recipients are:  

  • Paige McClinton: majoring in Finance and worked as an Inventory Control Student for SaskPower in Regina, SK.
  • James McDougall: majoring in Supply Chain Management and worked as an Inland Freight Supply Chain Intern for Canpotex in Saskatoon, SK.
  • Mackenzie Mullock: majoring in Marketing and worked as a Social Media & Marketing Student at Calian Advanced Technologies in Saskatoon, SK.
  • Carmen Wu: majoring in Human Resources and worked as a Worforce Planning & Employment Strategies Co-op Student at Saskatchewan Health Authority in Saskatoon, SK.

Edwards Co-operative Education Program Accounting Placement Student Achievement Award: given to a student with a monetary value of $2,000, this award recognizes students who have made a significant contribution in their co-operative education accounting-related work placement. The 2025 award recipient is:  

  • Avery Wildeman: majoring in Accounting and worked as an Accounting Co-op Student at Virtus Group in Saskatoon, SK.

The MNP Accounting Scholarship for Co-operative Students: given to a student with a monetary value of $2,500, this award recognizes an undergraduate student pursuing a B.Comm. degree in the Edwards School of Business that completes the Co-op program in accounting. The 2025 award recipient is:  

  • Asher Beattie: majoring in Accounting and worked as a Staff Accountant/Consultant - Audit & Assurance for KPMG in Saskatoon, SK
