Academic Achievement Award Brendon Demerais Métis Nation Marketing Major
Brendon Demerais is a Métis professional based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, with a strong commitment to Indigenous economic development and community empowerment. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing with Great Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration.
Brendon has worked for several years with the Gabriel Dumont Institute, where he supports Métis entrepreneurs in starting and growing their businesses through training, mentorship, and access to resources. In addition to his professional work, Brendon has regularly volunteered as a guest judge for various Indigenous entrepreneurship competitions.
A proud husband, and father of two young daughters, his long-term goal is to take on senior leadership roles that create sustainable opportunities for Indigenous entrepreneurs and strengthen economic outcomes for Métis communities.

Roberta, a proud Saulteaux and Cree professional from Kinistin Saulteaux Nation, is recognized for her commitment to excellence and her collaborative spirit. With a background reflecting versatility and a focus on growth, Roberta brings a balanced approach to every endeavour.
Roberta’s work is marked by integrity, creativity, and an unwavering drive to support those around her. She is respected for her ability to adapt to new challenges and to foster positive relationships within her community and workplace.

Community Engagement Award Malcolm McKay Woodland and Swampy Cree Nation Human Resources Major
Malcolm McKay is a Woodland and Swampy Cree business student from northern Saskatchewan and a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, with strong family roots in Cumberland House.
He is completing a Bachelor of Commerce at USask, focusing on Human Resources, Indigenous Governance, and Sustainability. Malcolm’s work has centered on supporting Indigenous and public-sector organizations through policy development, program coordination, and community engagement, including roles with the Government of Saskatchewan, STC Industrial Group, and Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies. He currently serves as a Teaching Assistant/Research assistant at the University of Saskatchewan and is active in student and community leadership, including the Indigenous Students’ Union and the Community Arts Mentorship Program.
Malcolm also previously served as the Tradition and Events Headperson for the Indigenous Business Student Society. Grounded in Cree values and northern community experience, Malcolm is committed to strengthening fair workplaces, culturally respectful governance, and opportunities for Indigenous youth and communities across Saskatchewan.
