Meet Forouzan: an international student from Iran with a Master of Economics. Meet Kamry: an Edwards student from Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce. Two students, two paths, one program that provided what they were each looking for.
What drew you to the Edwards Master of Science in Management (MSc Mgmt) program?
Forouzan: I'm fascinated by how complex systems can be understood with the right model, whether in physics or in financial markets, and I knew I wanted to pursue a path of knowledge that combined research with real-world problem-solving. The best program I found was the Master of Science in Management program at the Edwards School of Business, where I’m specializing in finance.
Kamry: I finished my Bachelor of Commerce at USask and heard such great things about the Master of Science in Management program, focusing on marketing.
Was there anything holding you back from applying?
Forouzan: It wasn't easy to move so far away, but I felt something special the moment I walked into the first class.
Kamry: I didn't have far to go, but I was still intimidated by the thought of a master’s program.
How do you feel now?
Forouzan: I took a big chance, but this program is more than what I hoped. The library on campus with a cup of coffee and my thesis now feels like home. There's opportunity here—for me and for my husband, who has now joined me.
Kamry: I was nervous to start, but the classes are small and welcoming, and I've learned so much. I took the leap, and I’m loving it.
What is special about the MSc Mgmt program?
Forouzan: It's more than just a place to learn. The professors and students know your name, understand your journey, and want you to succeed. We use Bloomberg terminals, the same tools used in industry, to turn learning into action. I also became a lab assistant, helping students analyze companies and build simple portfolios.
Kamry: I’ve learned so much about marketing, research, and strategy. This program is for anyone who has the passion to succeed in their field. It's a really good addition to my undergraduate degree.
Now that you’ve finished your first year, what’s next?
Forouzan: This program has given me the confidence and support I need to now work on my thesis.
Kamry: Now that I'm finished classes and working on my thesis, I really enjoy the flexibility to live at the lake, close to my boyfriend's farm, and help out with meals during harvest.

The Edwards MSc Mgmt program is a two-year, thesis-based program for students wishing to pursue business research with a focus in marketing; finance; or areas of management such as operations management & information systems, human resources & organizational behaviour, entrepreneurship & strategic management, and accounting.
